Memory Castings Pets

We are happy to answer any questions you have, but to save time here are some of the most Frequently Asked...

Q: Where are you located?
A: We serve the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley of British Columbia; and Winnipeg, Manitoba, too! But all of our appointments are in your home (which makes for happier babies, and helps our artist see your taste and decor so we can guide the design of your frame).

Q: How old can my children be to do castings?
A: The earlier the better, but it is never too late! We've cast babies from 4 hours to 104 years old!

Q: How long does an appointment take?
A: We book one hour for Framed Memory Casting appointments, but the castings themselves only take 45 seconds for each hand or foot.

Q: Is it safe?
A: Absolutely! We won't let your child touch anything with their hands that we wouldn't put in our mouths. The Dental Alginate we use is made from seaweed, hypo-allergenic, and 100% non-toxic. We only use materials that do not contain free silicates (a known carcinogen in cheap Alginate).

Q: When do we get our castings back?
A: We finish framed Memory Castings within 4-6 weeks, and larger sculptures and specialty orders within 8-12 weeks.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Each product has its own pricing. Find out pricing on more of our products on our Investment page. Any out-of-the-ordinary requests will need a custom quote.

Q: What materials are the finished products made of?
A: Our framed Memory Castings are created using high quality hydrostone. Hydrostone is a product similar to plaster of Paris, but is significantly more durable, longer lasting and archival. Some of our other products, such as key chains, rubber stamps and body sculptures are made from other materials like resin (plastic), fibre glass, cold-cast metal and glass.

Q: Do you take the photos for the frame?
A: We know what we are good at: we make great sculptures! We are not so good with cameras (too many buttons). We are happy to install any photo into your Memory Casting frame so long as you provide us either a) printed, or b) a high-resolution image by email for us to print. There are no additional charges for this service.

Q: How do you accept payment?
A: We accept personal checks, cash, Visa and Mastercard, and Interac Email Money Transfers. We do not have a debit/Interac machine.

Q: When is payment required?
A: We will give you an invoice out our consultation/casting appointment. We require a minimum 50% deposit at the time of casting. The balance is due on or before the date we quote we will be finished your castings.

Q: What are you doing for the environment?
A: Mistreating Mother Earth is like stealing the future from our children. As such, we schedule our appointments by location to minimize driving, buy our dental alginate from a sustainable source, compost our alginate moulds so the seaweed can feed next seasons' plants, and ship our castings with previously enjoyed boxes and packing materials.

Q: I'd like to open a franchise of Memory Castings. How do I do that?
A: Memory Castings is 100% privately owned and operated. Franchise businesses are for product-based businesses, but when it comes to specialty services like Memory Castings, our clients want only the very best, most highly-trained artists creating their memories. As such, we do not have any franchise opportunities available. We are, however, interested in meeting motivated individuals to join our sales team in cities we don't currently serve.
